May 23: A Celebration of Life and Spirit

May 23 will always be the best day of the year. It marks the birth of Kaj, the inspiration behind Hej Kaj. This day is special, and it’s why our first release was limited to just 523 bottles.

When I first envisioned creating Hej Kaj with Tevsjö Destilleri, my goal transcended mere spirit-making. I aimed to capture something more elusive — Kaj's spirit. His adventurous nature, courage, generosity and sense of humor. He had a unique talent for gathering people, sharing stories, laughter and, of course, a skål.

Kaj believed in living life to the fullest. Whether he was flying an airplane, exploring new places, or enjoying quiet moments by the water, he approached life with curiosity, confidence and an open heart.

The Essence of Kaj

These qualities inspired every aspect of Hej Kaj. Each detail of our first release was chosen with intention. The production run of 523 bottles honors Kaj's birthday, May 23. This decision weaves his story into the very fabric of the brand, ensuring that every bottle carries a piece of the person who inspired it.

What began as a tribute has blossomed into something far greater than I ever imagined. Through Hej Kaj, Kaj's story continues to unfold in ways he would have cherished.

A Legacy in Every Sip

Each bottle serves as a reminder that the people we love shape us long after they are gone. As another May 23 passes, I am filled with gratitude. Gratitude for Tevsjö Destilleri and their unwavering belief in this vision. Gratitude for the friends and family who helped bring this dream to life. And gratitude for everyone who has raised a glass of Hej Kaj, becoming part of this beautiful story.
